Lyons Creek homeowners in Jamul California are in the process of designating our valley of 26 homes as Firewise. This is an important designation as the insurance industry continues to pull out of California. Many homes are finding their insurance policies are canceled due to high fire threat areas.
The days of shopping for affordable homeowner insurance in our fire hazardous areas are long gone. I truly believe designating our community as Firewise is the first step in partnering with your insurance company to keep home insurance at a fair and affordable price.
California insurance commissioners offer Firewise or Shelter in place communities as a discount as seen here.
After we have certified our community as Firewise the next step is to understand what it will take to obtain shelter in place designation. Rancho Santa Fe Fire is a great example, Rancho Santa Shelter In Place Plan, on a master planned shelter in place community.
